Family Photos – Rahni’s First Birthday Celebration

Rahni’s First Birthday – It’s difficult to fathom that it’s already been a whole year since our daughter Rahni was born. This time one year ago we were just bringing her home from hospital, only a couple of days before Christmas. Born on the 15th of December, she arrived nearly three weeks ahead of her due date. The delivery went really well and we thank Dr Fred Busch and the staff at Glengarry Hospital for their wonderful care and assistance during a somewhat stressful time. She was a fantastic, albeit terrifying, Christmas present for us. We did enjoy showing her off at Christmas celebrations at only a week old.

So a year later it was time to organise her first birthday, and we decided that a Jungle theme would be appropriate. Rahni is a bit of an adventurer and doesn’t mind a bit of exploring already. My wife spent quite some time arranging decorations and cooking all manner of delicious treats. There were even “Supplies” snack boxes for guests to take home with them to enjoy later. Decorations included hand-made jungle vines, Harriet Hippo’s Mud (ball) pit, wild (stuffed) animals roaming the jungle (garden-beds), a Watering Hole, a Feeding Station, and a pile of provisions to sustain adventurers.

Even though Rahni will most likely not remember a thing about the day it is nice to have these photos to reflect on in years to come. It was great to have our family and friends there to celebrate Rahni’s first birthday, and look forward to them being part of her life as she celebrates many more. Also a special welcome to the youngest guest in attendance, Jennifer Viven Lim, who will no doubt follow in her father’s footsteps and become a talented basketball player. Rahni was very spoiled with so many new toys, books, puzzles, clothes and other great presents. In true form for a one year old, she spent forever playing with the wrapping paper instead of the new toys, but that’s life.
