Vathana (Hana) and Patrick were officially married on the 10th of November 2010 in Singapore, so technically the gorgeous ceremony they had two years (to the day) later was “only” a renewal of their commitment to one another in the presence of their family and friends here in Australia…but don’t be fooled…it was a real wedding from start to finish! They met in 2004, and unfortunately were only able to spend short periods of time together during holidays and infrequent trips, but their love for one another blossomed regardless. When they married in Singapore it was a low-key event with only a few family members in attendance. This time it was wonderful to have most of their family and many friends from Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand, as well as those from Perth, celebrate their wedding in the picturesque Swan Valley of Perth.
The venue they chose for both their ceremony and reception was the quaint and charmingly quirky Taylor’s Cafe and Art Studio. The staff there had only recently started hosting wedding functions and went out of their way to cater to Hana and Patrick’s needs and desires. So much so that when their wedding turned into an unseasonal rain-filled day, the team was able to move the entire reception indoors with very little warning. Yes, unfortunately what should have been a sunny, late-spring day, turned out to be a rainy winter’s day with frequent showers and dark, threatening clouds persistently looming overhead.
Hana and Patrick, and their family and friends, didn’t let the rain dampen the celebrations however, and instead made the most of the new-found cosy atmosphere inside Taylor’s Cafe. We still managed to sneak them outside between rain showers for a few photos in the lovely courtyard outside the cafe.
It was wonderful to meet their extended families and see the beautiful range of cultures come together to celebrate this special day.
